Dr. Shafik Sachedina is responsible for organizing activities for Ismaili community institutions in sixteen different areas. He is the Head of the Department at Jamati Institutions. He holds many positions including being a member of the Ismaili Leaders’ International Forum and a member of the Aga Khan Development Network. Dr. Sachedina is a very busy and caring individual who just wants to do the best he can for his community and his culture.
He is also the Chairperson of FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance which provides the resources needed to help remove poverty and assist people in need. He promotes peace in the Middle East and is a role model to others that hold on to the belief that achieving this is possible.
The Institute of Ismaili Studies is a company that does research targeted towards promoting the study of Muslim history and culture. Through his role there, Dr. Shafik Sachedina has built lots of bridges with people in the area to help spread Muslim culture and people’s understanding of it.

At Sussex Health Care he works to help provide health care to the community. In his role as co-chairman, he helps formulate policies that help to care for patients with dementia and disabilities. Sussex is an accredited home care provider and promotes caring for the sick and supporting activities to prevent sickness. They offer care for the patient and encourage recreational activities when needed. The patients in Sussex range from under twenty to over sixty.
Dr. Sachedina graduated from Guy’s Hospital Medical and Dental School in 1975 and became a practicing dental surgeon. He volunteers his time to work for the Jamati Institutions and honors the tradition of those who have volunteered before him. It shows the passion he has for others that he’s willing to spend unpaid time making these institutions better.
