How David McDonald rose through the ranks to become the COO and the President of OSI Group

David McDonald, the President of OSI Group, rose from a humble background to become one of the reputable business people of his time. While he was still young, McDonald developed lot of interest in farming and generally the agricultural sector. David McDonald spent much of his time working on the farm where he developed the desire to change operation at the farm level.

MacDonald’s parents, though not wealthy, supported his dream by ensuring that he got a good education that would enable him to forge forward. McDonald joined Lowa State University in 1987 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in animal science.

After graduating from the Lowa University, he launched his career at the Chicago-based OSI industries in 1991. Throughout his life, David has learned to work hard and remain persistent to achieve goals. Within no time, his hard work and the ability to bring new ideas saw him rise through the ranks in the OSI Industries to become the company’s COO and President.

David McDonald is an exceptional leader who has mentored a lot of professionals and much more looks up to him for his valuable counsel. Due to his exceptional leadership skills, McDonald was awarded the Wallace E. Barron Outstanding Senior Award. Today, David McDonald is among the most respected figures in the food industry.

He has successfully led OSI Group, a giant food Company through a series of expansion strategies that have seen the company set foot in other countries as well. OSI Group is the leader in the production of value-added proteins such as sausage links, beef patties, Pizza, and sandwiches.

Currently, the OSI Group has more than 50 facilities that are spread across 17 countries throughout the world. In China alone, the company has eight operating facilities. The Forbes ranked OSI Group as the 58th largest private company in the United States.

David McDonald’s aim is to make OSI Group the biggest supplier of poultry products in China. In line with this strategy, OSI Group entered into a partnership with DOYOO Group in 2012 to launch a mega processing plant that is located in the Henan Province.
