Have you ever heard of the amazing and talented Yanni Hufnagel? He is a basketball coach/recruiter maverick who has had many positions whether it was coach or assistant coach. With an excellent reputation in the basketball world for coaching and recruiting, he has recently transitioned to the Nevada Wolf Pack where it has brought many positive reviews and results. Coaching alongside Coach Eric Musselman, Hufnagel will make sure they are aggressive and bring defense when the ball comes closer to the three point shot line. He even uses basketball figurines to assimilate the plays he has planned for the players.
Hufnagel’s outstanding career started way back in his early youth in Scarsdale, New York. He started working in his town’s public television station where he would be calling games for the local teams. This is where he would start to develop his skill for recruiting. He would look at the player’s skill sets such as dribbling and defense stance. He would develop a pattern to see which players would make an ideal triumph for a position such as a point guard. Later, in his first year at Cornell University he was a basketball manager. This is where his discovery for coaching came to his mind and thought about it a lot.
Hufnagel’s career catapulted when he acquired a summer internship with the New Jersey Nets. Jeff Capel had been looking for an assistant coach and was impressed with Hufnagel. Capel flew out Hufnagel for an interview where he got the job of graduate assistant coach. This is where Hufnagel showed his amazing coaching skills and demonstrate that he is a prodigy in the realm of coaching. Capel recommended Hufnagel to Harvard where he became an assistant coach. He would also be a coach or assistant coach at other colleges such as Caltech and Vanderbilt.
